OutBack Swamp Tours Riverboat will cruise for about 20 miles along three distinct waterways in St. Amant, Louisiana. The tour will depart from Marina Highlands, located just 50 minutes from New Orleans and 30 minutes from Baton Rouge and Hammond.
OutBack's spacious 34 passenger covered boat gives you plenty of open space to walk about or just kick back in our comfortable seats, relax and enjoy the view.
Restrooms and roll down windows will assure a pleasurable ride. The trip will begin eastward on the Diversion Canal. Here you will be exposed to the back yard playground for hundreds of boating enthusiasts. You will see some of the most desirable waterfront property in Southern Louisiana. Officers from LA. State Wildlife & Fisheries, United States Coast Guard and Local Law enforcement agencies patrol these waters to ensure a safe and pleasurable boating day on the river. Taking a sharp southward turn onto Blind River. you will go back in time and experience a true Cajun's way of life on the river. You will see hunting & fishing camps, trout lines, canals lined with Lilly pads and just when you think you have seen it all we make a stop at Blind River Chapel Church. This is small chapel nested in the middle of the swamp and only accessible by water. It's founder Martha Deroche and family built the chapel inspired by a dream. Upon entering you will be overcome with its beauty and truly feel the presence of a higher spiritual being. Continuing the tour, heading northwest onto the Petite Amite. In this narrow waterway you will be surround by a watery forest of moss laden cypress trees. This is where you will see all sorts of native wildlife such as alligators, egrets, herons, duck, nutria and fish swirling the water.
